Building a Glock 17 pattern pistol on a PF940v2
The PF940v2 is the frame for a full-size build. This is the parts list and the order of work, written for someone doing it for the first time.
The parts list
- PF940v2 80% frame kit: frame, front locking block rail, rear rail module, jig, drill bits, end mill
- Gen 3 G17 lower parts kit, including a locking block
- Complete Gen 3 G17 slide assembly, or a stripped slide plus barrel, recoil assembly, striker parts and sights
- One or more 17-round G17 magazines
Finishing the frame
Three pin holes through the jig guides with the 3 mm bit, then the four rail tabs down to the jig surface with the end mill or a file, then the barrel block. Work slowly on the barrel block: it sets how the slide sits.
Assembly order
Front locking block rail and locking block, then the rear rail module and trigger housing, then the trigger assembly and its pin. Magazine catch and spring next, then the slide lock and its spring, then the slide stop lever. Function check before the slide goes on.
Why the v2 and not the original
Version 2 has a stiffer frame, a flared magwell and an accessory rail with better light retention. If you are shopping second hand and see a plain PF940, it is the earlier design.
What will not fit
G19 magazines, Gen 5 slides, and Gen 5 trigger bars. G34 and G35 slides will fit and give a longer sight radius on the same frame.
